    Day 1

    Morning

    Guided walking tour of Luxembourg City (2-3 hours)

    Choose from two guided art-themed tours of Luxembourg City (available in English, French and German), which can be booked with the Luxembourg City Tourist Office.

    1. Walk the Art 2-hour tour: see 19th and 20th century artworks on display in urban spaces from the historic Place Guillaume II and to the Villa Vauban city art gallery.
    2. Take the Cultural Circuit 3-hour tour to see the Casino Contemporary Art Forum, the Luxembourg City Museum, the National Museum of History & Art, and the Grand Ducal Palace.

    Lunch in the brasseries or restaurants on Place D’Armes or Place Guillaume II.

    Afternoon

    MUDAM – contemporary art gallery (2 hours)

    A striking contemporary art museum designed by the late Chinese-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei,  the Musée d’Art Modern Grand-Duc Jean’s (MUDAM) magnificent silhouette stands amid a fortress and sea of green, a few steps away from the European quarter. Guided group tours can be booked (English, French and German) to further admire its internationally renowned collections and exhibitions.

    Evening

    Stop for an aperitif or dinner at Place de l’Europe, near to the MUDAM, where you can discover another architectural phenomenon, the Luxembourg Philharmonic building, designed by Christian de Portzamparc. A booking for a concert can be included.

    Day 2

    Morning

    Vianden Castle & The Family of Man exhibition

    Start the day with a guided tour of the fairy-tale Gothic Vianden Castle, then visit Clervaux Castle to see the UNESCO inscribed The Family of Man photography exhibition, a manifesto for peace and equality in the post-war years, that brings together an evocative collection of 500 photographs from around the world.

    Lunch at Clervaux at one of the many restaurants found in the square below the castle.

    Afternoon

    Diekirch National Museum of Military History and Brewery

    The Military History Museum in Diekirch uses life-size dioramas to tell the story of the Battle of the Bulge, fought in the Ardennes region of Luxembourg. Hear from a guide about the struggles faced by soldiers and civilians in two world wars, and see the military equipment, vehicles, personal items and photos and maps. Guided tours can be arranged.

    Afterward, take a group tour of the Diekirch Brewery, with a private collection of neon signs, glasses, posters, match boxes and other paraphernalia going back 100 years, in addition to sampling one of Luxembourg’s locally-produced beers.

    Day 3

    Morning

    Industrial heritage

    Visit the former steelworks of Belval now fully renovated and see some important industrial sites, all lovingly restored and offering a window on Europe’s industrial heritage.

    Learn about the City of Science and the Blast Furnaces now surrounded by modern architecture, though walking tours.  Climb up a blast furnace to a 40m high viewing platform offering spectacular views. Tours last 1.5 to 2 hours.

    Many tours can be organized in the Minette Park, which brings together the highlights of the Red Rock region. Each tour lasts one and a half hours:

    1. The site of Fond-de-Gras, including the history and life of miners.
    2. The mining village of Lasauvage with its well-preserved and charming historical buildings.
    3. A theatrical visit with the Green Man, guardian spirit of the forest who will talk about the legends of the region, and advise on the medicinal properties of local trees and plants.
    4. The Celtic ruins at Titelberg, an archeological site dating back to 1st century BC.

    Afternoon

    Moselle region

    Just 30 minutes from the city, you’ll find the beautiful Moselle wine region, filled with vineyards and stunning views of this famous river.

    You have several options:

    1. Hop aboard the MS Princesse Marie-Astrid for a river cruise (on-board dining optional)
    2. Visit a wine cellar for a tour and tasting with a local wine grower
    3. Try a walking tour such as “Riesling & Geology” or “L’ABC of Wine”
    4. Discover Schengen and its monuments and museum dedicated to the EU freedom of movement agreement that was signed here.
    5. Take a dip in the restorative thermal spa waters at Mondorf Domaine Thermal
